CI 606 is a graduate-level methods course about doing interpretive research in education, the kind where you sit with people, watch what happens, and build understanding from messy human data instead of crunching numbers. You'll design and run your own small qualitative study across the semester: drafting interview protocols, going into the field, writing fieldnotes, coding transcripts, and producing written analyses for both the midterm and final. It's foundational for anyone heading into a thesis in education or social sciences, where being able to defend the validity of non-statistical work is just as important as the findings themselves.

In order to qualify to take the final exam of the course, students must: 1 Fulfill the attendance requirements as stated in the Course Outline. 2 Have a total of at least half the points allocated to all graded work throughout the course (including mid-term exam).
