The course focuses on the process of conducting research, and writing a Ph.D. dissertation and a scholarly article for publication. Each participant works with a dissertation supervisor, discussing and reporting progress made during the process, and deliberating on next course of action to be taken.

Şubelerin hepsinde hoca adı Staff yazıyor: hoca henüz atanmadı. Kayıt sistemi şube açılırken bu alanı boş bırakmıyor, yer tutucu koyuyor; gerçek isim dönem başına doğru giriliyor. "Kadroda değil" ya da "dışarıdan geliyor" demek değil. Bu dönem açılan 2052 şubenin 30 tanesinde (%1) durum aynı, 30 derste görünüyor.
