EU and International Institutions

CINT 506 trains translation and interpretation students to function inside the discourse worlds of the EU, UN, ECHR, NATO, IMF/World Bank and Turkish state bodies — the idea being that an interpreter who doesn't understand how an institution actually decides things will mistranslate the things it says. Across the semester you build five rolling glossaries, write structured institutional reports, and sit two mock conferences (one mid-semester, one final) where your terminology, register and procedural awareness are graded live. It sits on the interpreting track as the bridge between general language skills and conference-room work, so the glossaries and institutional reflexes you develop here are what you'll actually carry into booth assignments later.
