Feedback Control Systems

Control theory is where the linear systems math from EEE 202/major signals courses finally gets pointed at a real engineering question: how do you make a physical system — a motor, a circuit, a plant — actually behave the way you want, despite disturbances and modeling errors? You'll spend the semester moving fluently between transfer functions, root locus, and Bode/Nyquist plots, then using them to design PID and lead-lag compensators that hit specified stability margins and transient specs, with state-space methods introduced near the end. It's the gateway to EEE 432 and most of the systems-track electives, and the intuition you build here — closed-loop thinking, stability margins, sensitivity — shows up in everything from power electronics to robotics.
