Anatomical Figure Drawing

Building on basic figure drawing, this studio trains your eye and hand by working through the anatomical logic the Renaissance masters used to construct the human body. You spend most weeks at an easel running studio sessions tied to a specific artist — Bernini, Michelangelo, Raphael, Dürer, Caravaggio — analyzing how they handled proportion, musculature, and gesture, then translating those observations into your own pencil studies alongside homework drawings and a midterm. It is one of the practical anatomy courses that feeds the rest of the FA studio sequence, where the goal is less to copy than to internalize how trained observation becomes confident draftsmanship.
