Introduction to Painting II

A studio elective for non-FA majors that builds on the basics of mark-making to focus on seeing, how light, color temperature, edge, and contrast translate a three-dimensional setup into a coherent two-dimensional surface in acrylic. Most weeks revolve around still-life problems painted from observation, paired with analysis of a chosen master work, and the back half of the term shifts into an individual project where new techniques are layered in through weekly demos. The goal isn't to cover topics but to train the eye and hand together, so expect to spend real studio hours mixing color and rebuilding the same composition until it reads.
