Introduction to Printmaking II

This second-semester printmaking studio moves you from single-image experiments into thinking like a printmaker — building images through reversed plates, controlled editions, and the physical logic of ink, pressure, and registration. You'll spend the term cutting and pulling work across monotype, linocut, and woodcut, progressing from black-and-white pulls to two-color reductions and finishing with a multi-plate, multi-layer project assembled into a portfolio defended in group critiques. It pairs with the intaglio and oil-based etching techniques in the studio's heavier processes, and the habits you build here — patience, sequencing, and reading a proof — carry into any later graveur, illustration, or artist-book work.
