Design Tools and Techniques

This is the hands-on studio where you build the manual and digital toolkit every later Graphic Design course assumes you already have — learning to actually see, measure, cut, draw, and render before worrying about concept or style. You'll spend the semester producing nine sequential projects that move from precision paper craft and observational line work through one- and two-point perspective into vector software, typography, and a final die-cut packaging piece, with most work happening in studio and critiqued as it develops. Grades come almost entirely from these projects plus participation, so showing up and iterating matters more than any exam, and the muscle memory you build here is what carries you into illustration, typography, and layout courses in the years ahead.
