ME 481

Mechanical Engineering Design I

ME 481 is the first half of the senior capstone, where you take a real engineering problem from a vague customer need to a fully specified design on paper. You work in a team with both an academic and industry mentor, and the semester is paced by deliverables — statement of need, concept selection with a design matrix, preliminary design report, and a detailed design report — interleaved with committee presentations and the option to package the work as a TÜBİTAK grant proposal. It's where the analysis-heavy courses from earlier years finally get pointed at one concrete deliverable, and ME 482 in the spring is where you actually build and test what you spec'd here.
