Introduction to Psychology/Cognitive and Biological

PSYC 101 treats psychology as a science of the mind grounded in the brain, so the semester is spent learning how neurons, perception, memory, and consciousness are studied empirically rather than philosophically. You'll move through lectures and student-led discussions, take a midterm and a take-home essay final, sit two quizzes, and do regular individual or group work that pushes you to read findings critically and think about experimental design and basic statistics. As the autumn half of the intro sequence for Psychology majors, it sets up the cognitive and biological vocabulary you'll lean on in later neuroscience, cognition, and research-methods courses.
