Developmental psychology traces how the mind takes shape from conception onward, treating cognition, language, emotion, identity, and moral reasoning as intertwined products of biology, environment, and culture rather than isolated milestones. You'll work through Santrock chapter by chapter, sit three quizzes, two essay midterms, and a final, and produce a report that asks you to connect classic theory (Piaget and his critics) to actual research findings. As a sophomore-level requirement, it gives you the empirical vocabulary and methodological intuition that later courses on cognition, social psychology, and clinical work assume you already have.
