Cognitive Psychology

Cognitive psychology is the scientific study of how the mind actually works — how raw sensory input becomes perception, attention, memory, language, and the reasoning you use to make decisions — and this course walks through the experimental findings and theoretical frameworks that built the field. You'll engage with the material through lectures, a quiz, homework, and a midterm and final, with assessments that test both your grasp of key concepts and your understanding of how researchers actually design experiments and interpret results. It's a required sophomore-level foundation for the psychology major, feeding directly into upper-level courses on perception, memory, neuroscience, and developmental psychology, and giving you the vocabulary to read empirical papers in the rest of the curriculum.
