Learning and Memory

This course tackles the mechanisms behind how we acquire behavior and information and how that information sticks around long enough to be useful, moving from classical and operant conditioning into the architecture of memory itself — episodic, autobiographical, long-term, and the ways it can fail or distort. You'll work through a midterm, a written final, quizzes, and homework that ask you to engage with the experimental tradition of the field, not just the conclusions. As a required third-year psych course, it sits at the bridge between the intro-level cognition material and upper-level work in cognitive neuroscience and applied areas like eyewitness testimony, giving you the empirical vocabulary the rest of the major assumes you have.
