Perception, Attention, and Action

Perception is the bridge between raw sensory input and the mental representations that drive everything else in cognition, and this course uses vision as the main lens because it's the system we understand best at the neural level. You'll work through Goldstein and Gazzaniga alongside lectures, quizzes, a midterm, and a written final, building up from retinal physiology to attention, motion, color, depth, and the other senses. It sits in the cognitive psychology core of the third year and gives you the empirical and neural grounding you'll lean on later in cognition, neuroscience electives, and any research project touching the brain-behavior interface.
