Linear Algebra I is the course where you stop thinking of matrices as grids of numbers and start seeing them as concrete representations of linear maps between vector spaces — the same map looking different in different bases. You'll spend the semester proving things and computing things in roughly equal measure: row-reducing systems and determinants by hand, but also writing out arguments about subspaces, rank, eigenspaces, and Jordan forms across two midterms, weekly quizzes, and four problem sets. It's the abstract-algebra companion to your calculus sequence and the prerequisite that everything downstream — differential equations, numerical methods, quantum, optimization, ML — quietly assumes you've internalized.
