Linear algebra is the language for talking about everything that's "linear" — systems of equations, geometric transformations, and the spaces they act on — and this course builds that language from matrices and Gaussian elimination up through abstract vector spaces, inner products, and the eigenvalue/Jordan-form machinery. Expect weekly problem sets and a quiz alongside the midterm and final, with most of the work being by-hand computation tied to conceptual proofs about bases, rank, and diagonalization. It's a second-year requirement that quietly underwrites almost everything later: differential equations, numerical analysis, quantum mechanics, optimization, ML — once you see a matrix as a linear map, those courses stop feeling like separate subjects.
