Corporate Finance

Corporate Finance is where you stop treating a firm as an abstract entity and start asking what its decisions are actually worth in cash today — every topic ultimately reduces to discounting future money back to the present and comparing it against what something costs now. You'll work through a steady stream of problem sets and two midterms applying time value of money to bond and stock pricing, risk-return tradeoffs, and capital budgeting decisions like NPV and IRR. As a Year 3 required course, it's the gateway that makes upper-level finance electives (investments, financial management, derivatives) tractable, and the valuation logic carries directly into accounting, strategy, and any job interview that touches numbers.
